Celebrate Arbor Day by getting your free seedling - KARE

KARE 11, McDonalds and the Minnesota Forestry Industries are teaming up to celebrate Arbor Day by giving away free seedlings at McDonald's restaurants.

Red pine seedlings can be picked up at more than 225 participating McDonalds restaurant on Friday, April 24th. No purchase is necessary to participate.

Red (or Norway) pines are the official state tree. They can grow to nearly 150 feet tall and can live as long as 400 years.

Also this year, McDonald's and MFI are inviting people to enter to win one of five large, free trees that will be given away and planted in winners' yards. In 2008, more than 3,200 Minnesotans entered. Winners were drawn from the Minnesota cities of Columbia Heights, Osakis, Mankato, Wells and Saginaw.
