It's a shame that so few non-farm consumer types get to read any of the fine agricultural publications sent regularly to California farmers.
They miss a lot of good information that might help them understand and even enjoy and take pride in California agriculture. Information with the potential of making them more responsible and knowledgeable citizens and voters.
The current population of the state is about 38 million. Stretching it some, the number receiving any or all of the farm publications might be 100,000. My calculator tells me one Californian in every 3,800 is exposed to an editorial package about the state's dynamic farming presence on at least a monthly basis. Is it any wonder so few California citizens know what's going on around them in agriculture?
Of course, great educational programs are in place in the schools, and daily and weekly newspapers
