Salem FFA is on the go - The News

On March 5, 2009, the Salem FFA Chapter attended the Arkansas Eastern District CDE contest. Nine teams attended the contest, five of which qualified for the State contest. The qualifying teams are as follows: Forestry- 2nd place: members are J.W. Blevins finishing 1st, Vaughn Richard finishing 6th, Jesse Turner finishing 19th, and Chase Steed. Agricultural Mechanics-4th place: members are Matthew Twilley finishing 6th, Gray Windham finishing 10th, Casey Anderson and Colt Shaver. Agricultural Electricity-6th place: members are Jon Goodson finishing 6th, Evan Palumbo finishing 11th, Brandon Moss and Cody Barnett. Farm Business Management-7th place: members are Roy Massey finishing 7th, Cory Arnold and Eric Langle. Agronomy- 8th place: members are Austin Williams, Jesse Romine, Sean Willis and Beau McBride. Teams that went to district but did not qualify for state are as follows: Livestock-9th place: members are Laci Long, Carson York, Amber Taylor, and Sarah Cochran. Dairy

The Inventor: Timothy Sharp

Published nine times, Professor Timothy Sharp is an accomplished and innovative agronomist.

In 1976, he was named an Outstanding National Agronomy Senior and awarded his Bachelors Degree from Oklahoma State University. He later received his Masters Degree in Agronomy Weed Science from the University of Arkansas.

Prof. Sharps expertise took him to the Agricultural Products Division of the Dupont Company, where he played an integral part in the development of important agricultural products. His most advanced work produced a discovery into a method of compressing and dehydrating soil.
