Afton, Wyoming Scholarships
John and Bonita always placed a great deal of emphasis on education, having experienced the difference education has made in their lives. Both John and Bonita graduated from the University of Wyoming, an unusual accomplishment given that they grew up in a rural farming community during the Great Depression. John went on to received a Masters Degree from the University of Wyoming and a PhD from the University of Iowa.
When Bonita passed away in 2002, the Hopkin Family Society established a scholarship in her name at her high school in Afton, Wyoming for a deserving graduating senior interested in literature. When John passed away in 2005, the Hopkin Family Society established a scholarship fund in his name at his high school in Afton, Wyoming for a deserving graduating senior interested in agribusiness.
